Bulli High School Recording Studio | Adaptive Reuse
This project transforms a disused storage building into a vibrant, multi-functional recording studio for Bulli High School students and the wider community. The adaptive reuse approach breathes new life into an underutilised structure, creating a space where young people can explore music production, podcasting, and audio engineering in a professional-grade environment.
The design embraces the existing building’s character, integrating it with new elements that prioritise functionality, durability, and acoustic performance. By reimagining this space, we’ve minimised environmental impact and demonstrated the practical potential of adaptive reuse.
The studio is more than just a place to make music. It’s a creative hub, fostering connection, learning, and self-expression. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design can unlock new opportunities within familiar spaces, empowering students and engaging the broader community.
Working closely with the staff at Bulli High was a real highlight of this project. Collaborating with Principal Denise James, a true bastion of the arts, made the process especially rewarding. It’s inspiring to see such strong support for creativity and artistic expression within the public school system.
