Anchored quietly among the surrounding blue gums, this modest structure offers a place for gathering, study, and retreat. The design draws from the rhythms of the landscape, creating a space that feels at once protective and open.
A solar passive skillion roof rises gently, its glazed clerestory filtering light into the interior and framing views of the Bulli escarpment beyond. The form is simple and considered, with each element contributing to the experience of light, shadow, and connection to place.
A palette of Australian hardwoods and vertical timber screening speaks directly to the site, mirroring the textures and verticality of the tree trunks. The materials, left to age and weather, allow the building to settle into its bushland setting, blurring the line between built and natural.
