Draper Studio is a quiet and purposeful workspace for ceramic artist Lynda Draper, whose practice explores the interplay between the material and metaphysical, between mortality and memory. The studio sits gently on a site that has been home to Lynda for over three decades, offering a bridge between past and present.

The form recalls the memory of a rusty tin kiln shed that once occupied the site. Rhythmic vertical cladding, reminiscent of the weatherboards on the main residence, creates a subtle dialogue between the old and the new. The design is restrained and deliberate, with a focus on creating a space that supports the artist’s process while honouring the site’s history.

Natural light washes across the interior through indirect openings, creating an environment that is neutral and calm, allowing the focus to remain on the work at hand. The studio is both practical and contemplative, offering a quiet refuge for making, reflection, and continuation of a lifelong connection to the land.
